Let's find the best voting system for Nova Scotia: Antigonish

The Springtide Collective and our community partners are on a mission to find the best voting system for Nova Scotia. Last year, during our Make Democracy Better engagement, participating Nova Scotians told us that exploring alternatives to the first-past-the-post voting system should be a top priority. This spring (2016) we’re inviting you to join the conversation on voting systems.

This event will be a 2.5 hour session, hosted by the Springtide Collective, in partnership with Fair Vote Canada, Community Sector Council of Nova Scotia, and Sustainable Antigonish, where participants will:

- learn about 5 different models for voting systems.

- engage in conversation with hosts and other participants with the goal of exploring these models more deeply, and providing input on the best voting system for Nova Scotia, which could also be used at the Federal level.

- join the conversation on alternative voting systems, and connect to a growing community of people who like democracy and think it can be done better.

In advance of the event, Springtide has released a discussion paper modelling the five voting systems covered in these sessions. If you’d like to read the paper before the session, you can do so here: Better choices: voting system alternatives for Nova Scotia.

RSVP below or join the mailing list to stay in the loop.
